Cornwall Sound Map Project

Celebrating and Preserving the Hidden Sounds of Cornwall

This sound mapping project was started as a final year project during the completion of my degree in Creative Music Technology at Falmouth University. It came out of a love of field recording, an interest in soundscape ecology and a desire to put Cornwall 'on the map' due to underepresentation on other sound mapping projects.

Project Aims:

~ To archive and preserve the soundscapes of Cornwall for future generations.

~ Encourage other local field recordists to share their recordings.

~ Raise public awareness of soundscape ecology and the relationship between us and the soundscapes which surround us.

The first batch of recordings were captured by myself. I am now looking to develop the project further and encourage others to contribute their recordings. If you are interested in submitting your sounds and being credited on the site, please visit the Cornwall Sound Map site to find out more.
